| Author | Lermontov M. |
| Title | Maskarad |
| Description | Arbenin was once a professional gambler but succeeded in acquiring wealth and high social status. He is now married to Nina and believes that his former life is behind him. However, an accidental incident at a masquerade awakens painful jealousy in him. Suspicion quickly develops into a destructive passion and leads to tragedy. In addition to “Masquerade”, the book contains other plays and prose works by Lermontov about the high society of the 1830s. In this world, outward prosperity constantly coexists with hypocrisy and the pursuit of success. |
