| Author | Lermontov M. |
| Title | Geroj nashego vremeni |
| Description | Mikhail Lermontov’s novel “A Hero of Our Time” tells the story of the tragedy of Grigory Pechorin, a young and intelligent nobleman who came to embody the “superfluous man” of his age. The novel consists of five sections linked by the same protagonist and showing different periods of his life. Despite his exceptional abilities, Pechorin wastes his energy, suffers from boredom and destroys the lives of those around him, bringing unhappiness both to others and to himself. Lermontov himself described the protagonist as a portrait composed of the vices of his entire generation. The book became the first major psychological novel in Russian literature and offered a profound exploration of the individual’s inner world and loneliness. |
