| Description | The mechanic Mulle Meck lives in a cosy house at the edge of the forest with his dog Buffa. He is a jack-of-all-trades who can turn a pile of old scrap metal into a real car. Mulle installs the wheels and engine and then adds everything else the vehicle needs before it can set off. As the car gradually takes shape before the reader’s eyes, the book explains in a simple and visual way how machines work. The story is accompanied by detailed illustrations by Jens Ahlbom. The Mulle Meck series is a classic of modern Swedish children’s literature. It is intended above all for very young readers who are taking their first steps in discovering technology, are interested in how different mechanisms are constructed and always want to know how things work. The stories about the craftsman Mulle and his dog Buffa have enjoyed enormous popularity in Scandinavia for three decades. Mulle himself is loved almost as much as the famous characters created by Astrid Lindgren, thanks to his resourcefulness and unfailing optimism. |
