| Title | Ohota na malenkuju shhuku |
| Description | Every year, Elina Ylijaakko returns to her home village in Eastern Lapland and walks to a small forest lake where she must catch a single pike. Her life depends on that fish, so the annual ritual has a very concrete meaning. This time the familiar order is broken. A water spirit interferes with the hunt, and an ordinary trip home quickly turns into a dangerous adventure. Juhani Karila sets the novel in contemporary Finnish Lapland and lets beings from local folklore inhabit it as naturally as the human characters. The world remains recognisable even when ancient forces enter the story. |
