| Title | Deti russkoj jemigracii |
| Description | The Civil War forced around one and a half million Russian citizens to leave the country. Among the refugees were thousands of children who found themselves in unfamiliar cities and were often deprived of their usual family support. At the end of 1923, pupils at Russian schools abroad were asked to write memoirs about what they had experienced since 1917. Around 2,400 compositions were collected. The book edited by Lydia Petrusheva is based on these testimonies and presents the history of emigration through children’s eyes. Their individual voices combine to form a portrait of a generation whose childhood coincided with revolution and forced departure from Russia. |
