Bordunovskij M. Osen' na ostrove Saturn

Author Bordunovskij M.
Title Osen' na ostrove Saturn
Description The collection Autumn on Saturn Island by the poet Mikhail Bordunovsky (b. 1998) opens the next series from Nosorog, New Nosorog. It brings together texts by contemporary authors who are ideologically and stylistically close to the publishing house and who work with themes that move away from a direct interpretation of current reality, while enriching its understanding through particular meanings and images.

Bordunovsky’s book contains poems from the first half of the 2020s, a period of a future already past. In these texts, one may at first seem to recognise certain directions in the author’s movement towards literary currents and names that matter to him. Yet, this distinctive intertextuality dissolves as the reader enters more deeply into their complex imagery and narrativity. These poems exist as sketches of large plots, whether imagined, future or potential, about frozen time, groundless reality and islands awaiting a comet. Bordunovsky’s method is presented in the book as the unfolding of a hybrid existence of poetry, radicalising itself at the border with prose, where the lyrical meets the eschatological; the collection ends with a text-game that resists any fixed genre, a set of rules that conceptualises poetic utterance and sends the players-readers on a pilgrimage somewhere into Another Space, perhaps to Saturn Island.
The cover features the painting Self-Portrait in a Mask (1947) by the Serbian artist Mića Popović.
